How Maya Mandala created Mandala Dance is the story of a search: a long journey through Buddhist and Sufi lineages, years of study across many dance traditions, and a question none of them fully answered — how a woman's body heals, moves, and comes home to itself. What grew from that question is Mandala Dance: a practice of conscious movement built on breath, rhythm, grounding, and presence, danced in a circle.
The practice took shape over years. Maya followed the energy of the body in daily movement, listened for the wisdom of the feminine lineage, and only then began to teach — first in small classes, then in a method with levels, books, and teachers who carry it into the world. Today women practice it across many countries, and its origins remain inseparable from the woman who made it.
