Emotional growth is often described as something that simply happens with time. In Maya's experience of over 30 years working with students, that isn't how it actually goes: what's often called emotional resilience is built the same way any real capacity is built — through regular practice, dedicated time, and the willingness to actually work through what's underneath a pattern, rather than waiting for it to fade on its own.
Her approach treats personal growth as active work, not passive accumulation. Daily practice lays the groundwork — but the deeper shifts tend to happen in the immersion a retreat makes possible, when a person finally has the uninterrupted time to work through a specific scenario or emotional pattern fully, rather than in the fragments an ordinary week allows.
