Partners may change, but the repetition remains — the same scenarios, roles, and scripts find new people to play them with.
This is Maya Mandala’s observation from more than 30 years of working with couples: the specific person in a relationship shifts, yet the underlying pattern — the roles, beliefs, and scripts each partner carries — tends to repeat until it is consciously examined. Her practice asks the two questions together: “who am I with?” and “what am I living out?”
The two questions belong together: who am I with? — the living, chosen person — and what am I living out? — the script that finds its way into the room. That second question is where the work begins.
