The dakini is a quality, an experience, a way of moving through the world — in Maya Mandala's practice, it is something accessed directly through the body, without needing to believe in it. Maya has engaged this principle through movement for decades, teaching that the dakini is a living quality of awareness — alert, unfixed, creative — that can be experienced directly when the body is allowed to move freely, with presence.

The Dance of Dakini is the practice that opens this doorway. It is free, improvisational movement held within a container of awareness that lets the dancer experience the shift from a person dancing to a person being danced.
